SANTO DOMINGO.- La Agencia Internacional para la Integridad del Tenis (ITIA) confirm\u00f3 la sanci\u00f3n de cuatro a\u00f1os y seis meses contra el tenista dominicano Maikel Villalona, de 21 a\u00f1os, por m\u00faltiples violaciones al Programa Anticorrupci\u00f3n del Tenis (TACP).<\/p>\n
Villalona, quien no figura en el r\u00e1nking mundial, fue acusado el 15 de octubre de cometer cinco infracciones, entre ellas manipulaci\u00f3n de resultados, recepci\u00f3n de dinero il\u00edcito y omisi\u00f3n de denuncia de una estrategia corrupta, relacionadas con un partido de dobles del ITF World Tennis Tour disputado en 2022.<\/p>\n
Adem\u00e1s, la ITIA lo responsabiliz\u00f3 de no cooperar con la investigaci\u00f3n, tras ignorar cinco solicitudes para ser entrevistado a comienzos de 2025.<\/p>\n
Ante la falta de respuesta a las acusaciones, el organismo indic\u00f3 que el jugador admiti\u00f3 su responsabilidad en todos los cargos y acept\u00f3 la sanci\u00f3n impuesta, que incluye una multa de 10.000 d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n
La suspensi\u00f3n entr\u00f3 en vigor el 30 de octubre y proh\u00edbe a Villalona jugar, entrenar o asistir a cualquier evento organizado por entidades afiliadas a la ITIA. El tenista decidi\u00f3 no apelar la decisi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
La ITIA es un organismo independiente integrado por la ATP, WTA, la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Tenis y representantes de los torneos de Grand Slam, encargado de velar por la integridad del tenis profesional.<\/p>\n
